Sir,

32

I have decided to send the rough copy which i sent to Claims.

In July my wife was not expected to live till Xmas but the surgeon asked that he do

one more and i agreed and now she is slowly recovering but of course will never be able to do anything, and i have had a bad break with my heart due to nursing the wife for 18 weeks at home often sitting up all night.

This is the truth Sir unless i get help i shall go smash I drew £20.0.0 pension and paid it all in rent and all i have in the bank ls that which goes each week for rent.

Australia is a hard country and i will be honest they have no room for britishers large numbers who came here regret it and that is a fact.

I cannot understand why i have had no reply several who wrote have had forms sent

The whole trouble is the XXXIIt the conditions having to come home to get it i have no money to pay fares and of what use would we be

Would it be possible Sir to b*XX bring the matter before the house or could you see Mr Attlee to see if the money can be paid here.

There are quite a number here wh are in a bad way but they are all younger and able to work.

Finally Sir I trust that you will forgive an old soldier troubling you, but knowing you for many years as one of your party I feel sure that if anything can be done you will do it?

if we could have the money here it would mean relief from misery and worry and would last a very

long time especially as we are both in avery bad state of health and myself never know the day i may pass away.

One thing i do not understand id not getting an acknowledgement of my letters.
